Andrea Gonzales

Andrea Gonzales and Sophie Houser are the co-authors of Andrea Gonzales and Sophie Houser.

They met as teenagers at a Girls Who Code summer camp in 2014, where they created the game Tampon Run to challenge menstruation stigma.

The game went viral, leading to media appearances and speaking engagements.

Both pursued computer science degrees after high school - Gonzales at the University of North Carolina and Houser at Brown University.

They wrote Girl Code to share their experiences learning to code, creating Tampon Run, and navigating sudden viral fame as teenage girls.

The book aims to inspire more young women to explore careers in technology and coding.
