Barack Hussein Obama II served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017.
Born in Hawaii to a Kenyan father and American mother, he spent part of his childhood in Indonesia.
Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago before attending Harvard Law School.
He served in the Illinois State Senate and U.S. Senate prior to becoming president.
Obama made history as the first African American president.
He is the author of multiple bestselling books, including his presidential memoir "A Promised Land." Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
He lives in Washington D.C. with his wife Michelle and has two daughters, Malia and Sasha.
