Chen Guangcheng
Memoir
Chen Guangcheng is a Chinese human rights activist and self-taught lawyer born in 1971.
Blind since infancy and raised in poverty, he overcame numerous obstacles to become an advocate for the disabled and those affected by China's one-child policy.
Chen's work led to his imprisonment and house arrest, from which he made a daring escape in 2012.
His story gained international attention, and he now resides in the United States with his family.
Despite facing tremendous adversity, Chen remains committed to promoting democracy and human rights in China.
