Edwin Lefèvre was an American journalist, writer, and statesman born in 1871 in Colón, Colombia (now Panama).
Educated at Lehigh University as a mining engineer, he began his career as a journalist at 19.
Lefèvre worked as a stockbroker on Wall Street and served as a financial writer for the New York Sun.
During President Taft's administration, he was an ambassador to several European countries.
Later, Lefèvre returned to Vermont to focus on writing, contributing short stories to magazines and authoring novels.
His most famous work is based on the life of legendary trader Jesse Livermore.
