Eliezer Shlomo Yudkowsky is an American artificial intelligence researcher and advocate for friendly AI. Despite lacking formal education, he co-founded the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence in 2000.
Yudkowsky's research focuses on AI theory, self-improving AI, and developing benevolent AI architectures.
He has written extensively on rationality and philosophical topics in non-academic language, including an intuitive explanation of Bayes' Theorem.
Yudkowsky was a major contributor to the Overcoming Bias blog and helped found Less Wrong, a community blog dedicated to refining human rationality.
His writings on Less Wrong, known as The Sequences, form a significant portion of his work.
