Garry Kasparov

Garry Kimovich Kasparov is widely regarded as one of the greatest chess players in history.

Born in 1963 in Baku, Azerbaijan, he became the youngest World Chess Champion at age 22 and held the title for 15 years.

After retiring from professional chess in 2005, Kasparov transitioned into political activism, becoming a prominent critic of Vladimir Putin's regime in Russia.

He has written several books on chess and politics, including the acclaimed "My Great Predecessors" series.

Known for his aggressive playing style and deep strategic thinking, Kasparov has also explored the intersection of artificial intelligence and chess, famously playing against IBM's Deep Blue computer in 1997.
