Georges Perec was a French novelist known for his experimental writing and wordplay.
A member of the Oulipo group, he gained recognition for works like "Things: A Story of the Sixties" and "Life: A User's Manual." Perec's writing often featured constraints, such as his lipogrammatic novel "La disparition," written without the letter "e." His semi-autobiographical work "W, or, the Memory of Childhood" explored themes related to the Holocaust.
Born to Polish Jewish immigrants, Perec's life and writing were influenced by his experiences during World War II. He died of lung cancer in 1982 at the age of 45, leaving behind a legacy of innovative literature.
