Gladys Aylward

Gladys May Aylward was a British-born missionary who dedicated her life to serving in China.

Despite limited education and rejection from mission organizations, she used her savings to travel to China in 1930.

Aylward worked tirelessly, founding an inn, caring for orphans, and promoting social reforms.

She became a Chinese citizen in 1936.

During the Japanese invasion, she led over 100 orphans to safety across mountains.

After being denied re-entry to China in 1948, Aylward continued her work in Taiwan, where she established an orphanage.

She passed away in 1970, leaving behind a legacy of faith, determination, and selfless service that inspired many, including a Hollywood film based on her life.
