Born in London and raised in Rhode Island, Lahiri grew up balancing her Bengali heritage with American culture.
She holds multiple degrees from Boston University and has taught creative writing at various institutions.
Lahiri's work often focuses on Indian-American characters, particularly Bengalis.
Her debut short story collection, "Interpreter of Maladies," won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2000.
Lahiri has received numerous awards for her writing and serves as Vice President of the PEN American Center.
She currently resides in Brooklyn with her husband and two children.
