John Fante

John Fante was an American writer of Italian descent, born to Nicola Fante and Mary Capolungo.
Raised in Colorado, he attended Catholic schools and briefly studied at the University of Colorado before moving to Southern California in 1929 to pursue writing.
Fante lived in various cities, including Los Angeles' Bunker Hill district, and became known for his portrayals of struggling writers in L.A. His work influenced notable authors like Charles Bukowski and Jack Kerouac.
Despite being considered one of America's "criminally neglected writers" by Time Out magazine, Fante's unique style and honest depictions of immigrant experiences have earned him a dedicated following.
