John Flanagan is an Australian author best known for his Ranger's Apprentice series.
He began his career in advertising before transitioning to television, co-creating the sitcom Hey Dad!
Flanagan started writing Ranger's Apprentice for his son Michael, which has since become a successful book series.
He continues to work on the series while living in a suburb of Manly, Australia, with his wife.
They have three children and four grandsons.
Flanagan's writing career took an unexpected turn when a critical poem about a colleague revealed his talent, leading to training in copywriting and eventually to his successful career as an author.
