Jonathan Rowson is a Scottish chess Grandmaster and philosopher, achieving the title in 1999 and winning the British chess championship three times.
Beyond chess, he has pursued an intellectual career focusing on social and philosophical issues.
As Director of the Social Brain Centre at the RSA, he authored reports on behavior change, climate change, and spirituality.
Rowson received an Open Society Fellowship in 2018.
Currently, he works as an intellectual entrepreneur and civil society leader, co-founding and serving as Chief Executive of Perspectiva.
