Philosophy
Joseph Goldstein is a prominent American vipassana teacher and author born in 1944.
He co-founded the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) with Jack Kornfield and Sharon Salzberg, and serves as a resident guiding teacher there.
Goldstein has written numerous popular books on Buddhism, primarily introducing Westerners to Theravada concepts and practices.
He leads retreats worldwide on insight (vipassana) and lovingkindness (metta) meditation.
In his 2002 work "One Dharma," Goldstein explored integrating Theravada, Tibetan, and Zen traditions.
His teachings and writings have significantly contributed to the spread of Buddhist meditation practices in the West.
