Juan Perez Rulfo was born in 1917 in Jalisco, Mexico.
Orphaned at a young age, he developed a passion for literature through his family's library.
Unable to formally attend university, Rulfo became a self-taught expert in Mexican history and anthropology.
He began writing and photographing in the 1930s, publishing his first stories in the 1940s.
Rulfo's literary career flourished with the publication of "El Llano en llamas" (1953) and "Pedro Páramo" (1955), which earned him international acclaim.
Despite his limited output, Rulfo became one of Mexico's most renowned writers, influencing numerous authors worldwide.
He died in 1986.
