Kanae Minato

Kanae Minato is a Japanese crime fiction and thriller writer born in 1973.

She began her writing career in her thirties, with her debut novel "Confessions" becoming a bestseller and winning the Japanese Booksellers Award.

The book's film adaptation was nominated for an Academy Award in 2011.

Minato is known in Japan as "the queen of iyamisu" (eww mystery), a subgenre focusing on grisly episodes and the dark side of human nature.

Her work has gained international recognition, with some of her novels translated into English and other languages, establishing her as a prominent figure in contemporary Japanese thriller literature.
