Despite having no formal writing background, Mills decided to try his hand at novel writing.

His first book, Rising Phoenix, was published successfully, allowing him to become a full-time author.

Mills continues to live in Wyoming, enjoying outdoor activities like backcountry skiing and mountain bike racing.
