Lucy Maud Montgomery was a Canadian author born in 1874 on Prince Edward Island.
She is best known for her Anne of Green Gables series, which began in 1908.
Montgomery drew inspiration from her childhood experiences on the island for her writing.
She married Reverend Ewen Macdonald in 1911 and moved to Ontario, where she continued to write prolifically.
Montgomery authored nearly a dozen books while living in Leaskdale before relocating to Norval in 1926.
Her works, particularly the Anne series, have become beloved classics in children's literature.
Montgomery passed away in 1942 and was buried in Cavendish, Prince Edward Island.
