Leïla Slimani

Leïla Slimani is a French-Moroccan writer and journalist born in Rabat, Morocco.

She studied political science and media in Paris before briefly pursuing acting and then working as a journalist for Jeune Afrique magazine.

Slimani's literary career began with her debut novel in 2014, followed by her breakthrough psychological thriller "Chanson douce" in 2016.

This novel became a bestseller, selling over 450,000 copies within a year, and earned Slimani the prestigious Prix Goncourt.

Her work often explores themes related to her Moroccan heritage and women's experiences, establishing her as a prominent voice in contemporary French literature.
