  • Leon Leyson , born Leib Lejzon, was the youngest survivor on Schindler's List.

  • He was only 10 years old when Nazi Germany invaded Poland, forcing his family into the Krakow ghetto.

  • Leyson survived the Holocaust thanks to Oskar Schindler, who employed him in his factory.

  • After the war, Leyson immigrated to the United States, where he became a high school teacher in California.

  • He kept his Holocaust experiences private for many years until the release of Spielberg's film "Schindler's List" in 1993.

  • Leyson then began sharing his story through public speaking engagements.

  • He wrote "The Boy on the Wooden Box" late in life, completing the manuscript shortly before his death in 2013.
