Marie Arana

Marie Arana is a Peruvian-born author and journalist who moved to the United States at age 9.
She has a diverse educational background, including degrees in Russian and linguistics from Northwestern and Hong Kong University, respectively.
Arana had a successful career in book publishing, serving as vice president and senior editor at major publishing houses.
She later became the editor-in-chief of The Washington Post's "Book World" section for over a decade.
Currently, Arana is a Writer at Large for The Washington Post.
She is married to Jonathan Yardley, the Post's chief book critic, and has two children.
