Mikhail Lermontov

Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov was a prominent Russian Romantic writer, poet, and painter of the 19th century.

Often called "the poet of the Caucasus," he is regarded as the most important Russian poet after Pushkin.

Lermontov's influence on Russian literature remains significant, both through his poetry and prose.

His life was tragically cut short at age 26 when he died in a duel, mirroring the fate of his predecessor Pushkin.

Interestingly, both poets had written about fatal duels in their major works, with their main characters emerging victorious.
