Nick Leeson

Nick Leeson is a former derivatives trader known for his role in the 1995 collapse of Barings Bank.

Born in 1967, he began his career at Barings in 1989 and quickly rose through the ranks.

In 1992, he was appointed general manager of the bank's Singapore operations.

Leeson's unauthorized trading activities led to massive losses, eventually causing Barings' bankruptcy.

He fled Singapore but was arrested in Germany and extradited to Singapore, where he served over three years in prison.

After his release, Leeson became a public speaker and author, sharing his experiences and insights on financial risk management.
