Patricia Highsmith

Patricia Highsmith was an American novelist renowned for her psychological crime thrillers.

Born in Texas, she later moved to New York and graduated from Barnard College.

Highsmith's career began with short stories, but she gained fame with her debut novel "Strangers on a Train." Her most famous creation, Tom Ripley, appeared in five novels.

Highsmith wrote 22 novels and numerous short stories, often featuring dark humor and macabre themes.

She lived in Europe for much of her life and was more popular there than in the US. Highsmith's work has been widely adapted for film and praised for its psychological depth and exploration of existential themes.
