Richard Williams was a renowned Canadian-British animator born in 1933.
He is best known for his work as animation director on "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and his unfinished film "The Thief and the Cobbler." Williams began his career in London in the 1950s, gaining recognition with his BAFTA-winning short "The Little Island" in 1958.
Throughout his career, he worked on various animated films and TV projects, winning multiple awards including Oscars and Emmys.
In 2002, he published "The Animator's Survival Kit," a highly acclaimed animation guide based on his extensive experience.
Williams continued working on animation projects until his later years, including a short film "Circus Drawings" in 2010.
