Joseph Rudyard Kipling was a British author known for his fiction, poetry, and journalism.
Born in India, he drew inspiration from his experiences there.
Kipling's works include The Jungle Book, Kim, and numerous short stories and poems.
He was highly popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, becoming the first English-language writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907.
Despite his success, Kipling declined knighthood and the position of Poet Laureate.
He continued writing until the 1930s and died in 1936 at age 70.
