Philosophy
Simon Blackburn is an English academic philosopher known for his work in metaethics and philosophy of language.
He retired as professor of philosophy at the University of Cambridge in 2011 but continues to teach at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Blackburn is a Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge, and a member of the New College of the Humanities professoriate.
He has held positions at Oxford and UNC, and served as president of the Aristotelian Society.
Blackburn was elected to the British Academy and the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
He has gained a large general audience through his efforts to popularize philosophy.
