Sogyal Rinpoche was a Tibetan Buddhist teacher born in 1947-8 and recognized as the incarnation of Tertön Sogyal Lerab Lingpa.
Raised by Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, he went into exile during the Chinese occupation of Tibet.
After studying in India and England, he began teaching in the West in 1974.
Rinpoche founded Rigpa, a global network of Buddhist centers, and became known for his teachings on The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.
He aimed to bring Buddhist wisdom to Western audiences and was sought after as a speaker at international conferences.
Rinpoche traveled extensively, teaching in Europe, North America, Australia, and Asia.
