She served as the Georgia House Minority Leader and ran for governor in 2018.
Born in Wisconsin and raised in Mississippi and Georgia, Abrams excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian and earning degrees from Spelman College, University of Texas, and Yale Law School.
She worked as a tax attorney and founded several businesses.
Abrams is also an accomplished author, writing both fiction and non-fiction.
Her political career focuses on voting rights and increasing civic engagement.
If elected governor, she would be the first black female governor in the United States.
