Stephen William Hawking was a renowned English theoretical physicist and cosmologist.
Born in 1942, he studied at Oxford and Cambridge, earning his PhD in 1966.
At 21, Hawking was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, which gradually paralyzed him.
Despite this, he made groundbreaking contributions to physics, including work on black holes and the origins of the universe.
Hawking also wrote popular science books, with "A Brief History of Time" becoming a bestseller.
He held prestigious academic positions, received numerous awards, and was widely recognized as one of the most brilliant scientific minds of his generation.
Hawking died in 2018 at age 76.
