Tom Rob Smith is an English writer born in 1979 to a Swedish mother and English father.
After graduating from Cambridge University and studying creative writing in Italy, he worked as a scriptwriter.
His debut novel, Child 44, published in 2008, became an international success, translated into 17 languages and winning the Ian Fleming Steel Dagger for Best Thriller.
It was also longlisted for the Man Booker Prize and nominated for the Costa First Novel Award.
Smith followed up with two sequels, The Secret Speech and Agent 6, completing the trilogy.
His work is known for blending historical fiction with thrilling narratives.
