Tony Horwitz

Tony Horwitz was a renowned American journalist and author born in 1958.

He won a Pulitzer Prize for his reporting and wrote several acclaimed books, including "Blue Latitudes" and "Confederates in the Attic." Horwitz's work often explored historical themes through contemporary travel and personal experiences.

His final book, "Spying on the South," was published in May 2019, shortly before his unexpected death at age 60.

Horwitz served as president of the Society of American Historians and was known for his engaging storytelling and ability to bring historical subjects to life for modern readers.

He lived in Massachusetts with his wife, novelist Geraldine Brooks.
