V.P. Menon

Vappala Pangunni Menon (1893-1965) was an Indian civil servant who played a crucial role in India's partition and integration.

Rising from humble beginnings as a railway stoker and clerk, he became the highest-ranking Indian officer in British India.

As Political Reforms Commissioner to the British Viceroy in 1946, Rao Bahadur Vappala Pangunni Menon was instrumental in shaping India's transition to independence.

He worked closely with Sardar Patel to integrate the princely states into the Indian Union.

Menon's personal life included remarriage to his friend's widow after his first wife left him.

He received several honors, including the titles of CIE and CSI.
