Viet Thanh Nguyen is an acclaimed author and academic whose debut novel, The Sympathizer, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
Born in Vietnam and raised in the United States, Nguyen draws on his experiences as a refugee to explore themes of identity, cultural collision, and the aftermath of war in his writing.
He is an associate professor at the University of Southern California, teaching English and American Studies and Ethnicity.
Nguyen has received numerous fellowships and grants, and his work has been translated into multiple languages.
In addition to fiction, he has published academic works on race, literature, and Asian American studies.
